The Delta View Timing System
We use a system that is unique.  It is built from the ground up and completely customized.  Each runner will be assigned an InstantView BibChip that needs to be pinned to their hip area (shorts or pants).  Position it so it doesn't interfere with your natural running motion.  Typically it is recommended to be attached on the left side.  It is only 3"x4" and virtually weightless.  The main reader will be at the finish line, but we usually have readers at other points to record split-times.  At the finish, our results computer can instantly display all finishers' times.

InstantView BibChip

The front of the dual-purpose BibChip.  No need for a separate paper bib - no waste.

The back of the BibChip.  The RFID chip is inside the laminated bib.
Once the chip crosses the antenna-generated RFID plane field at the finish, the computer records the finisher's time.

Start and Finish Line Chip Readers
All finishers who want to be timed must go thru the finish chute.  The chip reader must "see" your bib.  Do not block the bib with your hands or any part of your body.
At the start, runners can choose to go thru the start chute and have a chip offset or line up as close to the start line and use the gun (GO) time.  Overall awards will be based on gun time but age-group placings will be based on net chip times.
  • If you are contending for Overall honors, it is better to line up outside the start chute.
  • If your running time is more important to you, or if you get to the start line  after the official start, make sure your bib is pinned correctly and pass thru the start chute to have your start time recorded.

Those who are outside the coned chute use the GO time as their start time.
This is about 5 seconds after the start and those passing thru the chute get a chip offset.

Multiple Chip Readers
Portable chip readers can be deployed at points other than the finish/start line.  We usually set one up at the halfway point.  The effective read zone of the readers is about 3 meters.

InstantView Results
The computers, using customized software, instantly displays results and other info.  Did your great effort break an age-group record?  You'll instantly know.  For our Prediction Runs, finishers also know how many seconds off they were instantly.  You can go for a cool down or head home knowing how you did.
Split-times are incorporated after everyone is finished and can be checked on the website by the time the finishers get home.
